Windsor Park Place is a geared to income supportive housing project located in Windsor Park. The building provides 24 newly renovated bachelor suites for seniors on a fixed income. Care and services include access to 24-hours supervision, food-services, light housekeeping and laundry services. The program promotes a caring and supportive living environment which encourages individual autonomy and independence. The home-like experience aims to enrich the quality of life of its residents and their families.

Taché Centre's is the care and service provider for the Windsor Park Place supportive housing program. It provides elderly clients with a range of care and services in either French or English that contribute to their autonomy. Windsor Park Place sets high standards for comfort, independence, safety and peace of mind. It supports a living environment that is welcoming, respectful of human dignity or cultural diversity and of each individual's needs.

Applications for supportive housing are made through the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority Home Care Case Coordinator, or a Long Term Care Access Coordinator.

ArlingtonHaus is a seniors community located at 880 Arlington that has been managed by the Bethania Group on behalf of Manitoba Housing and Family Services since 1998. This site has 116 suites that offer a variety of housing options, including independent living, assisted living (provides housekeeping, laundry and dietary services on a bundled service or a-la-carte basis) and supportive housing (assisted living services plus 24-hour support and supervision by a health care aide as well as recreational programming). Rent is calculated as a percentage of income, making this an attractive and affordable housing option for a broad range of incomes. The tenants enjoy a daily weekday hot meal service provided by our proficient cook, supported by a dedicated team of volunteers. Ambiance is homelike and friendly, where the congeniality among tenants, staff and volunteers truly creates a family atmosphere.

The Manitoba government is launching a new edition of the Seniors’ Guide, Healthy Living and Seniors Minister Deanne Crothers announced today at the Creative Retirement Manitoba Centre in Winnipeg.  

“We’re always striving to provide more information to help Manitoba seniors,” said Minister Crothers.  “The Seniors’ Guide was first printed more than 30 years ago and not surprisingly, it is still one of the province’s most popular publications.  This guide is filled with helpful information so that seniors and their families have quick access to information that can enhance their health, independence and well-being.”

The minister said the new edition of the guide provides information on health and wellness, active living, lifelong learning, housing, transportation, financial security, legal matters, home safety, caregiving, emergency services and much more.  She encourages older Manitobans and their families to keep a copy handy for referral on these important topics.

“The senior years are exciting and challenging,” said Dave Schellenberg, chair, Manitoba Council on Aging.  “Our council believes it is important to have access to as much information as possible to help us better understand and enjoy life.”
